The Full Story

Charge Your Mind started to come alive in 2023 with two paediatric occupational therapists having a vision to support regulation more holistically. At the time Cheri was a Senior Occupational Therapist preparing to start her own business and Hannah was learning the ropes as a Senior Occupational Therapist.

Charge Your Mind came about when Cheri was looking for a program that had it all - a program that targeted interoception, emotional regulation, and sensory regulation. Although there were great programs available, none of these targeted co-regulation, addressed only one area of regulation, or were too time consuming or didn't include enough teaching moments or practical strategies for families.

To overcome this, Cheri revamped an existing sensory program and added additional teaching moments to also allow learning opportunities for interoceptive awareness and emotional regulation. With client success, Cheri wanted to share this with other therapists to better support their clients.

Cheri and Hannah decided to team up to create a program about regulation, an area they were both passionate about. They spent the better part of two years developing content for caregivers, therapists, and children to explore regulation.

Their first product was Battery Bootcamp - a program designed for caregivers to empower them with the knowledge and skills to support their families regulation journey. After trialling the program with 20 families and parents, they know they were onto something special.

It was with a special thank you and acknowledgement to these families, clients and their families that both Cheri and Hannah have worked with and learned from, and all those in their lives who have supported them on this journey, that Charge Your Mind was born.

About the Authors

Both Cheri and Hannah studied occupational therapy in Geelong, being invited into the honours program to contribute to the occupational therapy research pool. This first taste of research and creating something new left them both knowing that occupational therapy was more than just a career, it was about finding unique and tailored ways to support families in their communities.

After working in the field for a combined 13+ years, both together and separately, they realised that supporting children with emotional regulation challenges required targeted support and education to parents. Cheri and Hannah are passionate about providing functional and helpful resources and tools that support a wide variety of neurotypes.
