What the program supports
How the program is neurodiversity-affirming
Charge Your Mind was developed to be neurodiversity-affirming, meaning that we acknowledge and accept a person's brain type and don't force them to change or be confined by neurotypical standards.
Charge Your Mind Program is neurodiversity-affirming as:
-
It supports children and their caregivers to explore their neurotype in relation to regulation
-
There are no "right or wrong" parts of the program
-
Allows children to choose concepts and language that suits them (e.g. using battery levels or numbers instead of naming emotions)
-
Targets environmental supports and not just the child's development
-
Has been trialled with input from neurodivergent families
-
And one of the creator's is neurodivergent with lived experience, and the other an allay to the ND community
